Kudrin sees Russia’s GDP falling 4–5% in 2020 due to coronavirus

MOSCOW, Oct 5 (PRIME) -- Russia’s gross domestic product (GDP) will fall by around 4–5% due to the second wave of coronavirus, more deeply than by 3.9%, officially projected by the government, the Audit Chamber’s head Alexei Kudrin told the Federation Council, parliament’s upper house, on Monday.

“The forecast did not take into account the second wave of the COVID pandemic, which has unfortunately started. Therefore, a fall in GDP is likely to top the official forecast, and will amount to around 4–5%. No precise assessments are available yet,” he said.

Kudrin added that the GDP forecast for 2021 is also to be revised.
